WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN IMPROV NORTH AND OTHER NORTH WEST TRAINING SCHOOLS?
We teach long-form, organic improvisation rather than focusing on short-form games. From the guiding improv principle of ‘Yes, And-ing’, we work on building grounded, engaging scenes with a spectrum of character work.
WHAT SORT OF CLASSES DO YOU RUN?
We have a Level One beginners course and will soon be adding more, all the way up to Level 5. Each level will incorporate more challenging improv techniques and processes including learning formal structures like The Harold.
From Level 3 upwards, the classes come with a public performance in the form of a graduation show at the end of your course - guaranteed to be electric.
HOW MUCH ARE YOUR CLASSES?
We offer taster sessions for £5 and full 8-week courses for £200.

WHERE ARE YOU BASED?
Classes are run at the Northern Monk Refectory, 10 Tariff St, Manchester M1 2FF.
HOW OFTEN ARE THE CLASSES?
The full courses run for 8-weeks on a Monday night from 7-9.30pm.

I'M A TOTAL BEGINNER, IS THIS RIGHT FOR ME?!
Short answer: yes!

It’s normal to feel nervous, especially when you perhaps have zero experience of anything like this. Improv is a team sport - everyone is there to support their fellow improvisers. Plus, your teacher will be there the whole time to guide you through the process.
WILL I PERFORM IN A SHOW?
Eventually! Level 3 courses and above with do a class at the end of the course. We also have plans to add shows outside of the classes and there will be limited opportunities to be cast in those.
WHO ARE THE TEACHERS?
Classes will be taught by either Paul or Freya. We will let you know in advance if there is a substitute teacher taking a lesson.
CAN I BUY A CLASS AS A GIFT?
Yes! What a nice present. Purchase the course as usual and then contact us and we can send them / you a gift voucher.
CAN I HAVE A REFUND?

IS THERE AN AGE LIMIT?
Our classes are intended for those of 18 years or older. We can accommodate students aged 16-18 on a case by case basis; with the informed, written consent of their legal guardian. ​​
