code of conduct
Improv North is committed to creating a safe and supportive environment within our classes and the wider community. Everyone is welcome to explore improvisation. This is a place where we can make mistakes, learn new skills and make new friendships. If an issue comes up in class it will be handled discreetly and sensitively. All teachers and students must adhere to the school code of conduct.

-
No harassment, intimidation or discrimination of any kind will be tolerated; we reserve the right to remove anyone from our classes who cannot abide by that rule. Everyone deserves to be respected and to feel safe within our classes.
-
As a company, we reserve the right to be intolerant of intolerance and to act in such a way as to expunge it from our classes and community.
-
While all things are possible in improv, some topics and behaviors are not suitable for our classes. To maintain a safe learning environment we require our students to respect the physical and content boundaries of their classmates and their teacher. Teachers can and will immediately end scenes that they determine are becoming inappropriate. Students may also end such scenes.
-
We ask our students to play to the height of their intelligence, to avoid scene topics that would embarrass, shame or otherwise make uncomfortable any participant.
-
Our students are asked to be excellent to each other - creativity flourishes when a team is kind and supportive.
-
While improv can be therapeutic, it is not therapy. Our classes are not a substitute for treatment from a mental health professional.
-
Don't take the piss. (This could be a longer rule, but you know what we mean).

We strive to be an inclusive school and want to encourage students from all walks of life to come and enjoy improv.
Bring the things that make you, you: age, race, ethnicity, gender, sexuality, ability, neuro-diversity and everything else.
This is the place for you.
